2007年の「子育て環境と子供に対する意識調査」（甲南大学人間科学研究所）によると、「子育てをする自分（保護者自身）」に２つの意識があり、保護者（母親）の大部分が「自分の生き方を大切にしたい」という意識と、「子育てで自分が犠牲になるのは仕方がない」という意識を、同時に併せ持っているという結果が出ています。 また専業主婦か常勤職者に関わらず、過半数の母親が子供だけと過ごす長い時間を苦痛に感じる一方、約3分の２の母親が、「子供が小さい間は家事・育児に専念するのが良い」という意識をもっています。 (contributed by emikok) |

母親の育児不安に関しては、多くの情報の取捨選択は個人に委ねられる現代の育児不安の環境的要因以外に、近隣社会や親同士の繋がりが薄くなり、夫の適切なサポート不足も育児不安の一因と考えられています。しかし、近年子育てにまつわる問題や虐待などの問題を考えると、子どもを取り巻く環境として家族・親族・地域の人間関係の中に、自然発生的にあった絆が希薄になったことによる 母子の孤立化が顕著であり、子育てに対する社会のサポートが必要で、「母親が育てる子育て体制」から「社会が育てる子育て体制」（三沢1997）へとシフトする動きが最近社会全体に現れるようになってきました。 (contributed by emikok) |
