The Social Services Inspectorate (SSI)
national inspection report - A Matter of
Chance for Carers? - identified a number of
key issues in relation to local authority
support for carers. This leaflet lists these
issues and provides questions to help
frontline staff and first-line managers
consider them. During 1997 and 1998 SSI inspected seven local authority social services departments, looking specifically at how they provided support and services for adults who were caring for other adults, ie people caring for older people and those caring for people with physical or learning disabilities or with mental illness. Clarifying carers’ entitlements and local procedures for working with carers | ||||||
